The Children’s home, Casa Dayspring, is located in the northern part of the state of Veracruz, in the town of El Higo. El Higo is located on a large river, Rio Moctezuma, which is the state line between Veracruz and the state of San Luis Potosi.  The area is in the tropics, but since it is in a river basin their main industry is sugar cane.  The sugar production plant, which turns sugar cane into refined sugar is the main industry in El Higo.
